…not just about tacos

Habanero Mexican Café

I love great Mexican food.  Not Tex-Mex, but Mexican.  And I have been in search of a type of steak that is seasoned and prepared the way the good ol’ folks in northern Mexico do.  It’s called Carne Asada.  And it’s found at Habanero Mexican Café!

“This Restaurant has been in the Ibarra family for over 20 years. We moved from Eastern Oregon to continue the legacy and our dream of owning this Mexican restaurant. And for over 10 years we have been making the best Mexican food in Austin. With a dedicated and talented group of employees that have been with us from that start 10 years ago, we strive to make the most authentic, freshest Mexican food in town.”

The service is excellent, friendly, and fast.  The prices are unbeatable and the quality of the food is outstanding.  I usually get the lunch tacos, carne asada of course.  They are only $1.85 each and they’re packed!

Get to this place before 11:30 because this place gets busy and it’s just a little place, which holds maybe 60 people.  Parking is usually pretty good and the wait isn’t too terribly long even if you do come later.

The owner is always around and makes sure you’re enjoying the food and the service.  He often works the counter and takes pride in knowing you were served some of the best Mexican food in town.
